 Support HR6

January 19, 2007

Mr. Rodney E. Cook, Sr.
23 Beach Road, Unit B5 Salisbury, Massachusetts 01952

Dear Mr. Cook:

Thank you for your comments regarding our nation's energy
policy. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

I share many of the sentiments expressed in your correspondence.
Like you, I continue to believe that reducing our dependence on
fossil fuels and adopting alternative forms of energy is a national
necessity. As a member of the Congressional Renewable Energy
and Energy Efficiency Caucus, I have consistently supported
alternative, sustainable energy solutions that will both meet our
long-term energy needs and address pressing global warming
concerns.

In that vein, I co-sponsored the Creating Long-Term Energy
Alternatives for the Nation Act of 2007 (H.R. 6), which would
repeal oil industry subsidies and create a fund for investing in
clean, renewable sources of energy. I was also pleased to vote in
favor of H.R. 6 when it came to the floor of the U.S. House of
Representatives on January 18, 2006. This important bill passed by
a vote of 264-123 and now awaits consideration by the U.S.
Senate.

As we move forward, I will continue my work to move our country
toward a sensible and sustainable energy policy. I appreciate your
commitment to the same.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to do so
regarding any matter of concern to you.

Sincerely,

John F. Tierney
Member of Congress

 Global Warming

Global warming is becoming much more serious than ever lately.
Unless some serious changes are made in the use of fossil fuels,
and destruction of rainforests,as well as other woodlands, we could be in for some mighty serious results. The more this is ignored, the sooner these devastating results will happen.
One way to help would be to replenish some of the trees that
have been lost. Maybe you are unable to do so on a one on one basis,
but by joining with others through such organizations as Nature Conservancy,National Arbor Day Foundation,or your local County Extention Service, you could be taking an active part in helping to
reduce global warming. Check with your local school system to see if they have a tree planting program for the students. If not,why not!! . Children love being involved.
